The state of Connecticut now waives the class as a requirement for veterans if honorably discharged within 2 years, active military, reserves and national guard.(a) The state will now waive this education course to some not all retired law enforcement officers as well. We strongly suggest that if you fall under one of those categories that you call the CSP Special Licensing Unit at 860-685-8494 if you have any specific questions before registering for this course as only they will waive this course requirement. Veterans if honorably discharged within 2 years, active military, reserves, national guard, and some not all retired law enforcement should contact the CSP Special Licensing Unit at the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection before registering for this course. If you choose to take the course, payment in full is required.

However, as in the case of all professions, someone to guide you might not be a bad thing as I have decades of experience and some job opportunities that I can share and help enlighten you on our vastly growing and vastly changing security industry in Connecticut. Please call the CSP Special Licensing Unit at 860-685-8494 if you have questions because their policies change on an extremely frequent basis and I cannot guess their policy changes on retired law enforcement.
